Finding A Talented Plumber

Although it may seem simple to fix little things around your house, the fact of the matter is that there are a few professionals who really do work hard to make your life better. For instance, while you may be likely to paint your place on your own, even doing something as simple as switching out a toilet can be really challenging. I started thinking about how valuable professionals like plumbers were for my business, and I wanted to start a new blog that centered around how much a plumber can help to make your life better. Check out this website for tips on finding a talented plumber.

2 Ways You Can Clean Your Drains

by Vernon Elliott

The water from your drains needs to run clear all the time. When they start to clog up, it can be really frustrating, and you can end up with one slow drain actually causing all your drains to run slow because whatever has caused that one drain to slow down or even stop working has moved down to the point where everything is clogged. As soon as you notice that one of your drains is slow, you need to try to do something about it because the longer you wait, the longer it will take to fix it. So, what can you do?

Baking Soda and Vinegar

You can always try using some baking soda and vinegar. If you are going to do this, the first thing you should do is boil some water. While the water is boiling, grab a funnel and some baking soda. Put the funnel in the drain of your sink and then pour the baking soda down the funnel and into the sink. Then, pour some vinegar into the drain. When you have done that, put a plate or plug over the drain so that all of the bubbles go down your drain. After a few minutes, pour the boiling water down your drain. If that works, then you are good to go.

Soap and Water

Another thing that can help get your drain running is using dish soap, liquid body soap, shampoo, or conditioner. These things all have surfactants in them, which makes them slippery. The surfactants can also help break down grease or other things that may clog your pipes. The way you do this is to pour the soap directly down the drain. Follow that with some boiling water. The water will help move the soap down to the problem. You need to let that sit for a bit, and then you can pour down more water to see if things are moving. You might also want to try a plunger at this point because whatever is causing the problem may be loose enough to be moved with a plunger.

If your drains stop working and you have tried everything you can, you should call a plumber. They can come out and clean your pipes so that your drains will work again. If you have used any kind of chemical drain cleaner trying to get things working, make sure that you tell the plumber so that they can take the necessary precautions because those drain cleaners can be very harmful.
